My name is Dr. Mackey
and I am an Assistant Professor of Organizational Beahavior
I am an Assistant Professor of Organizational Behaviour at the Desautels Faculty of Management at McGill University. I joined the faculty in 2023 after completing the University of California President’s Postdoctoral Fellowship at UC San Diego’s Rady School of Management, and I earned my PhD from Harvard University.

I study how organizations hire new workers with an emphasis on racial, gender, and class inequality and their intersections. My work investigates how decision-makers decide who has competence and merit, and the role supply-side characteristics play in shaping employment decisions. I have used ethnographic and qualitative methods, administrative records, and original field experiments to examine the consequences of these evaluative processes.

An educator at heart, I've been nominated for teaching awards and consulted and trained thousands of employees across various industries. As a DiSC-certified trainer, I specialize in building organizational capacity by developing leaders and staff.
Before earning my PhD, I was a member of Improv Boston’s National Touring Company and co-founded the Massachusetts Black Doctoral Society. I'm a New Orleans native, and I earned my degree in English and Secondary Education from the University of New Orleans.
